It has arrived my new Elecraft K3 #8361

This will be the fourth K3 that I have built
K3 #3212 was for myself
K3 #4455 was for Nick Farrar (KD5TQO)
K3 #5956 was for Wallace Olinde (AD5XM)
K3 #8361 is for myself also


This is how it was delivered by UPS. I opened it


Inside were several other boxes. One had the S/N on it.


Opened and found the manuals. One for assembly and one owners manual.
Unpack the boxes. Sorted everything out to inventory the contents. It's all here.


Installed 6ea "D" fasteners in the corners and center sides


Installed RF PCB and Mixer PCB standoffs.


Installed the roofing filters 2.7Kilohertz (r) the the 500 hertz (c) 200 hertz (l)filters.


Installed "LPA" (low power amplifier) max 15 watts.


Installed Front Panel shield.


Installed the K3 mixer board.


Installed the left side panel with handle.


Installed the rear Panel KAT3 connectors and the KAT3.


KAT3 and the right side panel.


Side panels installed along with the rear panel.

Also installed the the K3 I/O audio/digital interface

RESISTANCE CHECKS

1) Measure the resistance across the RED and BLACK 12VDC INPUT. Must be > 3K OHMS.
Measured 0.471M ohms


2) Measure end of R36 to ground. Must be > 150 OHMS
Measured 220 OHMS


3)Measure across U12 to ground. Must be >500 OHMS
Measured 2.59K OHMS


4) Measure across U 13 to ground. Must be > 125 OHMS
Measured 0.430K

POWER ON SMOKE TEST


NO SMOKE RELEASED...


KREF/TCXO(l) AND KSYN3 Synthesizer installed


KNB3 Noise blanker(L) and TMP CABLING


THERMAL PADS INSTALLED AND COVERS


Actual assembly is finished. All that remains is
TEST AND CALIBRATION

Then set some parameters

ORDERED KPA3 TODAY 16 SEP 2014

It has arrived TODAY 19 SEP 2014


Open and unpack the box. Lots of pink anti-static material.


Next step is inventory the contents for missing components.
Everything is accounted for. Of course its an Elecraft

Remove the top Cover.

Remove the rear blank fan cover.

Remove the bottom rear cover

Remove the top stiffener bar

No KRX3 subreceiver to remove so to the next step.

Remove the KNB3 Module.

Install the KPA3 Shield

Install the KPAIO3 Interface Module
Remove the PA jumper block.

Install the KPAIO standoff on the KPAIO pcb, then install the KPAIO interface

Now assemble the Fan Panel

Install the circuit breaker

Run the Fan Test to verify operation.

Install the KPA3

KPA3 Intalled with cooling heat sink on top

Fans installed and KNB3 reinstalled. Replaced covers

K3 #8361 now has 100w capbility and all
calibrations checking has been completed

to enhance the capabilities of my station.
